Which is exactly what I said in my post.
My time is far more valuable to me that buying a new ú60/70 every six months than messing around with this process of trial and error. -----------------------------------------

Back on topic,
I'm cautious of the ATI HD stuff. I bought myself a HP Touchsmart TX2 for work and it has the HD3200 stuff in it. Lets just say Eve is unplayable I do of course realise though that this is a laptop chipset and no where near as beefy as the stuff I'm potentialy buying for the desktop.
Is the ATI HD (desktop) stuff ok with Eve then?
edit: and yeah, PC World, not the cheapest But then I don't pay VAT (or rather claim it back) and it will be "a company expense" And besides, this if for me more a matter of convenience of picking up.
5450, thanks, I'll go check out there reviews -----------------------------------------

Go to somewhere like www.ebuyer.com or www.scan.co.uk They are the best sites for buying pc equipment atm.
A...
Just don't risk it if u have warrenty. ;)
Yeah I know all about these guys but I need it tonight and frankly, not too bothered about paying over the odds (see previous post).
I'm actually thinking that I may as well get a 5770.... what would you recommend, Asus or Saphire? -----------------------------------------

Thanks guys!
As expected, asking you was the best idea. Spent a little more than planned but I think it will work out good
Just phoned a little independant dealer in my area (Micrologic in Hayes) and they can sell me the Asus 5770 for ú120. Just checked a few reviews and this card runs fairly cool and gets great reviews.
Thanks to all again!!!! -----------------------------------------

I run an HD4850 in my tower and it works just fine, max settings always sits me at 60 FPS. I only start getting frame rate issues when my memory usage hits 80% capacity. (64-bit Vista on 4GB of RAM, while running 2 EVE clients isnt the best...need to fix that... )
Edit: I also have an i7, they work together just fine.
Ahhh I should be very ok then as i'm running 6gig tripple channel
I have read in a lot of places that in terms of just memory usage, if you only have 4gig ram you are actually better off with 32bit O/S. I understand that the footprint of a 64 bit OK (which is larger than 32bit) wipes out any advantage you may have after gaining the extra 700 or so meg.
I know it would be a real ball ache but, might be worth trying a 32bit install if you have memory issues
I suspect the reason my two cards may have died could be related to dog hair/dust. Our hairy mutt made a hell-ov-a-mess (daily vacuums required! Thanks Roomba!!!) but obviously, the PC was filthy inside. We don't have the dog anymore as he is living with the "in-laws" so I hope this should help a lot! -----------------------------------------

Your going to love this! I just moved house and the second one has now popped
If it helps, the PC is plugged in via spike protected extension. I've also found a "mains conditioner" in the garage that the previous tennants have left so I might also employ that. -----------------------------------------
